Arts Education

Sierra County Arts Council is pleased to partner with Musica Sierra, Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District, Sierra Schools Foundation, educators, artists, and organizations across Sierra Count to give our students a vibrant and inspiring arts education program. Thank you to our entire community for your support of arts education in Sierra County.

Musica Sierra received $35,000 from the Sierra County Arts Council to support it’s Music Education programs in School Year 2021-2022.

Art & Music Sponsorship supports Summer Reading programs

We partner with and fund Musica Sierra who has brought amazing interactive performances and music education to Sierra County Schools.

Downieville School Students at Hamilton.

Downieville School Students went to New York and experienced art at MoMA. They also enjoyed the Broadway production on Phantom of the Opera.

This year we have a new Rock Band music instructor at Downieville School. Joe Jimenez will be teaching a variety of instruments including guitar, harmonica, mandolin, drums, bass and violin. He has years of music experience and we are pleased to bring this talented musician to Downieville School.

We expect the program to continue with in class instruction this fall and spring.

Art Education Exposure Digital Stage

The Sierra County Arts Council is pleased to partner with Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District and the Sierra Schools Foundation to bring Musica Sierra’s Digital Stage series to our students and our entire community.  A special thank you to Lindsay McIntosh of Musica Sierra for bringing world class performances into the classrooms and living rooms of Sierra County.  Performances will be released monthly throughout the school year. Be sure to watch the entire video of each episode which will include multiple performances from a variety of musicians. We hope everyone will enjoy these amazing performances.
