Our Venues

The Sierra County Arts Council is pleased to present a variety of shows and community events throughout Sierra County and throughout the season.

The Arts Council has operated the historic Yuba Theatre in Downieville as a community arts venue since 1996. Originally built in 1940 as a movie house, the Yuba Theatre is the only fixed-seat theater in Sierra County.

In order to better serve the Sierra Valley, since 2010 the Arts Council has cooperated with the Sierraville Recreation District and the Sierra Plumas Joint Unified School District to use Sierraville School in Sierraville as a venue for Arts Council events and activities.

Construction on the Sierra Valley Event Center in Loyalton Park, Loyalton was finished in 2013.  Since that first summer, the Arts Council, in cooperation with the City of Loyalton, has been presenting shows at this splendid outdoor venue.

  • Californians will once again have the opportunity to support the California Arts Council and its arts programs for children through their state individual tax refund. Sept. 2013, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed Senate Bill 571 (Senator Carol Liu, La Canada Flintridge), returning the arts to the voluntary contribution portion of California tax return forms through the new "Keep Arts in Schools Fund." Donations are tax deductible and support Arts Council programs throughout the state.
