2011 Sierraville Theatre Arts Day Camp

In association with the Sierra County Child Abuse Council and Sierraville Recreation Association, the Sierra County Arts Council is co-sponsoring a performance arts day camp in Sierraville for children ages 9-18. The purpose of the camp is to provide performance art education, free of cost, to rural children who would otherwise have little or no exposure to the theatrical process. Our goal is to provide a staged performance experience for local youth.

The Sierraville Recreation Association has approved the use of Sierraville School for the camp. The school has ample space to host a day camp, with an outdoor playground, gym/multipurpose room with stage, classroom space, and restroom facilities.

The camp will meet for six weeks on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting on June 22, 2011, and will end on Friday, July 29, 2011 with performance of a play (check back with this site for the event listing). The camp will meet from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students will bring a sack lunch.

Students will receive instruction in acting, voice, and theater craft, including set building, props, and costumes. The camp will be staffed by a theater arts teacher, a local middle school teacher, and community and parent volunteers.
