Rural Reporting Project Survey Results
First off, thanks for sharing your experiences. In just over a week we heard back from 222 people. In survey response terms, that’s a lot! Here’s what we learned. Your top concerns were 1. How to revive jobs and sustain local economies 2. That people visiting from outside the area will bring COVID-19 to the community 3. Keeping community members safe, especially while reopening businesses.  We also heard about the kinds of activities that bring you comfort and inspiration right now: connecting with neighbors, spending time with family on Zoom or the phone, getting out into nature (or your garden), baking, volunteering and “quiet time in our beautiful mountains and valleys.” Your Rural Voices Will Be Heard: A series of stories and talk show segments centered on the experiences of Sierra and Plumas Counties residents are being developed. Feel free to reach out to Jesikah Maria Ross, who is spearheading the Rural Reporting Project, with story ideas or feedback:  This project will continue over the summer.
