Discover Music at the Loyalton High School Gym & the Downieville School Gym Oct 12, 2018

A Brass Quintet is coming to the Loyalton High School Gymnasium on Oct 12th at 10:00 AM and to the Downieville School Gym at 1:30 PM.  The Sierra County Arts Council is pleased to present the Reno Philharmonic’s “Discover Music” educational outreach program where ensembles of two to five musicians travel to regional schools to perform age appropriate music assemblies. These are designed to give the students a close-up look at symphonic music through performances, demos and fun participatory activities.  For more info about this program visit: http://renophil.com/edce/discover-music/

Admission is free and the community is invited to the Downieville School Gym music assembly at 1:30 PM on Oct 12, 2018.

The music assemblies are made possible by the Sierra County Arts Council with support from the California Arts Council’s Arts Education Exposure, a program for students who may have limited access to attend performances and exhibitions; also, much appreciated support from the Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District.  For more information call Loyalton High School (530 993 4454) or Downieville School (530 289 3473).

  • Californians will once again have the opportunity to support the California Arts Council and its arts programs for children through their state individual tax refund. Sept. 2013, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed Senate Bill 571 (Senator Carol Liu, La Canada Flintridge), returning the arts to the voluntary contribution portion of California tax return forms through the new "Keep Arts in Schools Fund." Donations are tax deductible and support Arts Council programs throughout the state.
